Good Evening Everybody . . . .

That time of year again!  Holidays are approaching and my world always seems to spin faster this time of year.  As ever I'm excited, cookies have been made (And eaten) and the Christmas decorations come out of their summer slumber once again.  Time to be extra thankful.

It's been a great year full of changes both large and small.  Many Many Triumphs and a few painful defeats hang like trophies on my heart.  But all in all it's been a year of many more steps forward than back and for that I am grateful.

Right about here is where I also wanted to say thank you to Cinnomanangel.  I'm happy to announce that (With her permission) over the next while I'll be posting what I believe to be the best of the work we did together.  She's also graciously agreed to post some of her own favorites of our work.  The past few years have been challenging for both of us of course, but she's stepped out of the fire like a phoenix, better and stronger than ever.  I hope I have as well.

You'll find her new DA page at - cinnomanangel.deviantart.com/

My best to you all as December begins it's run.  I do hope all of you have warm safe holidays.  Just please remember that there are people out there much less fortunate than we are.  Even a small gift, some spare change and a smile helps, regardless of whom you share it with!

Axiomatic Fables

How many times have I found myself mumbling something under my breath only to stop and realize I’m channeling my parents.   Uttering some Axiom like “All’s well that ends well”, “Horse before the Cart” or best yet, “The Road to Hell . . . “

Thousands of times lately to be honest.  Each and every quaint utterance was learned from my own parents.  Little things they’d mumble to themselves as they gamely tried to raise myself and my two rather unmentionable brothers.  The fact that they didn't drown us in a bag of Rocks or leave us in the woods without the benefit of Bread Crumbs is a freakin’ miracle.  We were . . . Troublesome to say the least.

But here I am, mumbling some silly thing that I heard my Dad say years ago as I try to keep my own child on the straight and narrow.

And what happens you ask?  Well the little Scamp pulls one of her tried and true tricks.  She wanders into the living room where I’m pounding away at the computer and wraps her arms around me and says “Love ya Daddy!”

Of course that’s the first warning that something is up . . . Something big!

Turns out March Break starts Friday and she wants her friends to stay over for the weekend yet again.  Sleepover time!

Well, it’s not that bad.  They’re all good kids.  And the best part was a few weeks back when three of them were hiding in my daughter’s bedroom and what do I hear playing on their computer?  “Carry on my Wayward Son” by Kansas . . .

Huh?!?!?!?  Ummmm Okay . . . I was listening to that song at the same age they're at now!  Holy LesPaul Batdude!  What the heck is up with that!?!?!?!  Then they come piling in to see if I have any more Kansas songs on my own computer . . . Do I?!?!?!  Hell Yeah!  Buckets worth!!!

So I discover that I’m cool . . . Who’da Thunk it!  Moira's Dad has 70’s/80’s music!  That’s SO cool!

Well they grab a pile of it on a flash drive and roam back to her bedroom to “Check it out”.  So all the rest of the weekend I’m being treated to the same music at top volume that I forced my own parents to listen to . . . (At Top Volume!)

And I’m pretty sure I’m echoing exactly what they said back then . . .

”Stop leaving the Damn Bathroom light on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

:D  Have a great and peaceful day all!

Dan
